Tiropita is a delicious and versatile dish that can be enjoyed hot or cold. It is great as a starter, snack or even a main course.

Ingredients for 2 people:

  • 1 pack of puff pastry (approx. 250 g)
  • 300 g fresh spinach, chopped
  • 200 g feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tbsp Minos Extra Virgin Olive Oil for frying
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp Minos Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Sesame seeds for sprinkling
  • Optional: Fresh herbs such as dill, parsley or mint for additional flavor

Preparation:

Preparation time: approx. 20 minutes

Baking time: 20-25 minutes

Difficulty level: easy

    1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
    2. Heat the Minos Extra Virgin Olive Oil in a frying pan and sauté the onion and garlic until translucent.
    3. Add the chopped spinach and sauté until wilted and most of the water has evaporated, about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and let cool.
    4. Optionally add the fresh herbs and mix well.
    5. In a bowl, mix the crumbled feta cheese with the eggs until smooth.
    6. Cut the puff pastry into individual squares.
    7. Place a layer of spinach on each square and top with a generous amount of the feta-egg mixture.
    8. Fold the dough squares into pockets or triangles. Moisten the edges with a little water and seal well to ensure that the filling does not leak out during baking. Place the finished pockets on a baking tray.
    9. Brush the tiropita with Minos Extra Virgin Olive Oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
    10. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
    11. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Tip: As an alternative to puff pastry, you can also use filo pastry. To do this, place several sheets on top of each other and brush each sheet with Minos Extra Virgin Olive Oil before adding the filling. Make sure that the edges of each sheet are well sealed to prevent the filling from leaking out.
