Greek meatloaf

Greek meatloaf, also known as "keftedes", is a delicious and aromatic variation of the classic meatloaf, prepared with Mediterranean spices and ingredients. The taste is unique and will instantly transport you to the warm atmosphere of Greece.

Serve the Greek meatloaf with fresh flatbread, a crisp salad and some homemade tzatziki or Greek yogurt to complete the Mediterranean experience. This hearty delicacy is perfect as a main course for a cozy dinner with family and friends or as a tasty appetizer for special occasions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg mixed minced meat
  • 2 rolls from the previous day
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 onions
  • 2 teaspoons (heaped) medium hot mustard
  • 12 Minos green olives without stone
  • 6 Minos peppers ( hot or mild , depending on your taste)
  • 200 g feta cubes with dried tomatoes
  • Minos Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Oregano, rosemary
  • Salt & white pepper

Preparation:

Preparation time: approx. 90 minutes
Difficulty level: medium

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C top/bottom heat.
  2. Soak the rolls in lukewarm water.
  3. Lightly grease the baking dish with olive oil.
  4. Cut olives and peppers into thin rings.
  5. Squeeze the rolls well and knead them well in a bowl with the minced meat, eggs, olives, peppers, feta cubes and spices.
  6. Form the minced meat mixture into an elongated loaf and place it in the baking dish.
  7. Bake in the oven for about 60 minutes.
