Crispy feta cubes with paprika oil

These crispy cheese cubes with paprika oil are a perfect snack or starter that goes particularly well with social evenings. Greeks often enjoy them as meze, a selection of small dishes that go wonderfully with a glass of wine or ouzo.

Ingredients for 2 servings:

  • 200g feta cheese
  • 50g panko flour
  • 1 egg
  • 50g wheat flour
  • 4 tbsp Minos extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Preparation:

Difficulty level: easy

Preparation time: 25 minutes

  1. Cut the cheese into bite-sized cubes and pat them dry with kitchen paper.
  2. Put the wheat flour in a bowl.
  3. Crack the egg into a second bowl and whisk lightly.
  4. Place the panko flour in a third bowl.
  5. First coat the cheese cubes in the wheat flour, then in the egg and finally in the panko flour so that they are well covered all over.
  6. Place the cheese cubes on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  7. Mix the Minos extra virgin olive oil with the paprika powder in a small bowl.
  8. Brush the breaded cheese cubes generously with the oil-paprika mixture.
  9. Bake the cubes in a preheated oven at 180 degrees for 9 minutes.
  10. Turn the cheese cubes over, brush them again with the oil-paprika mixture and bake for another 9 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  11. Serve the cheese cubes hot with lemon wedges and tzatziki .
