The traditional Greek tzatziki is a true all-rounder. Whether as a refreshing dip for vegetable sticks, as a side dish for grilled meat or fish or as a spread in sandwiches - its versatility is hard to beat. You can enjoy it with any meal, be it as a starter, side dish or snack. So, grab a portion of our tzatziki, dive in and experience the authentic taste of Greece!
Ingredients for 1 person:
- 1/2 cucumber
- 1 garlic clove
- 150 g Greek yoghurt
- 1 tbsp Minos Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 1 tsp fresh dill, finely chopped (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
Preparation time: approx. 10 minutes + 30 minutes brewing time
Difficulty level: easy
- Wash and peel the cucumber. Then grate the cucumber on a coarse grater.
- Put the grated cucumber in a clean tea towel and squeeze out the liquid well. You can do this by wringing the tea towel over the sink. This will prevent the tzatziki from becoming too watery.
- Peel the garlic clove and chop finely or grate it on a garlic grater.
- Place the Greek yogurt in a bowl and add the grated cucumber, chopped garlic and olive oil.
- Pour the fresh lemon juice over the mixture and add the finely chopped dill (if desired).
- Stir well until all ingredients are evenly mixed.
- Season with salt and pepper. You can also add a little more lemon juice if you prefer a fresher taste.
- Leave the tzatziki in the fridge for at least 30 minutes so that the flavours can develop properly.
- Stir again before serving and garnish with some fresh dill or a splash of olive oil if desired.
